Content Trigger Times

This lesson explains how to use trigger to control your content play times, you must already have an existing playlist that is looped.
We are going to use simple playlist to explain content trigger times – see below.

Content trigger times overview

media_1487753703638.png

The playlist has 3 items, the last one is under the loop – so this means that only 2 items should play and the 3rd one should not play because it’s outside the loop.
Let’s say we want the 3rd item to play at a specific time, specific duration and at what frequence…that is when we use the content trigger times: click on item to trigger – right click – time – and select “Content trigger times ”

Strict Content Trigger Times

media_1487754351929.png

When you set “Strict trigger time” – that item will only play at the exact time that is set, irrespective of what will be currently playing. So at exactly 10h00 the “Racing cars” item will play everyday. The steps to set this are as follows:

  1. Click and right click the item to trigger
  2. Set the trigger time
  3. Set it to strict
  4. Save by clicking done

Be sure to publish your screen.
So at exactly 10h00 the “Racing cars” item will play everyday then go back and play the list inside the loop. You don’t need to fill in other columns as this will only plays once.

Slot in Content Trigger Times

media_1487755135572.png

For an item to play more than once at specified time and frequency, we use the slot in feature. The steps are as follows:

  1. Click and right click the item to trigger
  2. Set the trigger time
  3. Set the end time
  4. Set it to slot – this means that at 10h00 this item will play but it will wait for whatever is currently playing to finish, so it will not play at exactly specified time but only after what would be playing at 10h00 is done, then it will play.
  5. Set the frequency – this is the frequency that the item should play, in our example it is set every 10 minutes
  6. Click to save.

So, after the publish – the Racing cars should play from 10h00 (after what’s currently playing) every 10 minutes till 11h00 o’clock everyday.

Adding Audio Layer

This shows how to add audio playlist that will play when items or videos in the main playlist have no sounds.
You must know how to create screen, add layer and playlisting.
You must have uploaded the tracks already (MP3 Format) and log them using either Default Audio or Music Tracks.

Screen with main playlist

media_1478153797958.png

Normal Screen with one layer called ” Fullscreen Layer” and the playlist name called ” Fullscreen List”

Adding Audio Layer

media_1478154137754.png

Right click on the screen
Select Layout – New Layer.
You will have a new little layer on your screen – right click on it and select “Layer Properties”

Labelling the audio layer

media_1478155072879.png

Label the Layer as ” Audio Layer”
You can change the colour if you want to – click ” done”
Make new playlist call it Audio Playlist – drag the audio items to the Audio list (make sure you loop) – close the audio playlist – drag it from the clipboard and attach it to the Audio Layer

Screen with Audio Layer

media_1478155406281.png

This is how your screen will look like.
Now we need to put the Audio Layer underneath the Fullscreen Layer.
Click on Audio layer from the right hand side and drag it down so the Fullscreen Layer is on top.
Last step is to open the main playlist and mute the sound all the media items that have no sound – you do this so that when content with no sound plays, the audio track to also play in the background.

Muted Items

media_1478156023685.png

In the playlist – click item you want to mute – right click – select Audio Control – click on “Mute Audio”
The item will have a little red block next to it – this means that when this item display on screen, the track in the Audio playlist will play.
That’s how you make Audio playlist.

Moving a player from screen to other screen

This lesson explains the process involved in moving the player attached to a screen to a new or existing screen.
NB: Before you move a player, make sure that it is online – it will not update if it’s offline.

Player Config

media_1477467807580.png

Screen works – click on Player Dashboard

Click on the player that you want to move (you can also search for it by typing it’s name on the search box), look at the Project & Screen to see the where the player is currently attached – as shown in the picture above. For example – from the picture above, Player named DP0903 is attached to a Bouquet called Phumza Test , using the Screen called Phumza_Constraint Test.
Click dropdown of the the Project (Project is another name for Bouquet) – here you will see all the existing bouquets.
Choose the bouquet that you want, and then click on the screen dropdown to see all the screens under that bouquet – click on the screen you want to change the player to…don’t forget to save.
After you have clicked save – the “current list” column will go red, click the refresh button until it has gone green again…then you have successfully moved player to the different screen.
