My Group Users_Overview

A look at “My Group Users” that is placed under the home tab

My Group Users

To open my folder select the “My Group Users” icon under the home tab. Once Selected a new tab will open, that is shown below.

Group Users Tab

This tab shows you two panels:
The one on the left has a list of all the users that are on the system.
The tab on the right has a list of the users that are in your group.

Add user to group

To add a user to your group:

  1. Select the box next to the users name
  2. click the “>” button in between the panels.

WARNING: When adding a user to your user group, you will be giving that user permissions to any content that your user has permissions for!!!

To take a user out of your group:

  1. Select the box next to the users name
  2. click the “<” button in between the panels.

User Viewing Types

This tool is used to manage a users preferred content types used when viewing content on the system.

Select the user and click on “User Viewing Types” in the User profile drop down

Add preferred content type

Select from the left column the content type you want to add as preferred content type and click the right arrow button to add it to the preferred column.

Remove preferred content type

To remove a content type from the preferred list, select the content type you want to remove and click on the left arrow button.

Users Group

A look at user groups.

To open a users group:

  1. Select the user
  2. Click on the User Group option in the User profile drop down

This form is used to add and remove users from a user group.

The form is divided into two columns.

  1. The column to the left is a list of the available users on the system.
  2. The column to the right is a list of the users which are currently members of the group.

To add users to a group simply click on the user in the left column and click on the arrow button pointing to the group.

To remove a user from a group, click on the user(s) you want to remove and click on the arrow button pointing to the user list.

Left click on group to select.

Select “Group Details” in the options drop down.

Here you will be able to change your Group name, Group Type and the nfinityX3 theme for the group.
Once you have changed the details click Save.

New Group

Creating a new Group

Select the “New Group” option under Options.

Enter in Group details

Input Group Name and Select the Group Type:
Group Type options:

  1. System
  2. GUI
  3. Permission
  4. User

Once the fields are filled in select Save.

XView Mobile

Xview Mobile is used for viewing all the available content and also see the trailers available.

Home Page

Here you will find all content that has been recently added and popular content.
Search button – type in the name of content you want to view then click on search button.
Notice at the bottom the icons:

Home – Click when you want to return to home page
Movie – it will take you to movies page where there are different movie categories and their previews
Series – takes you available series also with categories and previews
Documentary – all documentaries available
Training – Videos or lessons available for training.

Local – local content available.
Web – this site.

Movies

Click on the “Movie” menu from the home page
You see different categories of movies available, e.g. Comedy, Action, Family e.t.c. clicking on the buttons will show only movies in that category.
For our example, click on Family – movie name ” Fast & Furry-ous”

Movie Details

See details about the movie, year it was produced, actors involved or directors e.t.c…
Click on the Director to see more details – see below.

More info

More information about the director or any other actor that you would have chosen; also shows all the other movie that he / she has directed before.
Click back to go back to the previous page.

Viewing the Trailer

Click on play – the preview of the movie will play, click Escape to exit the full screen.

Adding News Stories

This lesson explains how to add stories to Xview and the process involved.

The steps to follow are as follows:

  1. Add the XFeature Story
  2. Log content as XFeature Graphic
  3. Add the XFeature Graphic
  4. Add Picon
  5. Attaching the XGraphic to the XFeature Story
  6. Permissions

Adding A New Story

Log Content as XFeature Story
Select new Library Object from the Administration tab

  • Then Choose the necessary object you will use
  • Fill in the required fields
  • Feature Title – This is the title of the news story
  • Genre – This is the genre of the news story. In this case we keep it as general news
  • Year – Year the news story was published
  • Synopsis – This is the main body content of the story. Make it detailed as this is what people are reading.
  • Menu – IMPORTANT: The menu is in this case ‘menuNews’. That means the content will be in the news section
  • Tags – These are tags for your news story
  • Survey – The survey that this news story is linked to (optional)
  • Then Click and save

Log Content as XFeature Graphic

• Do the same logging process as before, but this time select XFeature Graphic

XFeature Graphic is the picture for the headline. This is the picture for the headline, it will appear like the second picture above.

The Size of the picture is 360px x 160px (IMPORTANT)

Picon

Upload a Picon

(The Size of the picon must be 186px X 280px) IMPORTANT

  • Log the picon as a ‘Picon’ object
  • Be sure to fill in all the fields required

Attach

  • Once you have logged the new XFeature Graphic item, attach that Item to the XFeature Story
  • Find the item and add it to your clipboard if it is not already there
  • Click on the XFeature Story Item

Then click and drag the XFeature Graphic onto the XFeature Story

  • A window will popup prompting if you want to attach the XFeature Graphic to the XFeature Story, Click Attach
  • Close and reopen the XFeature Story Item and you should see the attached XFeature Graphic

  • Once that is done, On the XFeature Story object select the ‘Meta Data’ dropdown on the left, then select ‘Edit Picon’
  • Choose the Picon you just uploaded
  • In our case it is the one circle
  • It will then say the Picon has been updated

Permissions

All we need to do as a last step is to allow permissions on the XFeature story, to do that:

  • Select the XFeature Story and select ‘Edit’ again
  • Select the Permissions tab as below and add a Permission
  • In the new row inserted make the Policy name ‘ReadOnly’
  • Make the group ‘xview_default (User)
  • And then save

Your News Story item should be there.

That’s it. You’re done.
