Creating A new Network

Overview

Networks create an environment allowing attributes to be distributed to media players attached to the network. Information is passed to the media player configs which can be used to manage smart content.

Bouquets manage content – Screen Layouts – Play lists (Think of this as your channels)

Networks are not a compulsory component when publishing content to your network but can be helpful when navigating a complicated network.

Networks are usually setup when managing large scale networks requiring dynamic or geographical content . An nfinityX consultant or high level administrators assist in designing. Networks are used to attach meta data to hardware players, like geographical position and attributes like LSM, language etc.

The Main function of a Network is to manage content using attributes and dynamic content. A network will not automatically manage “Screen layouts” but it will dynamically manage the content attached to screens.

Note: screens need to be manually attached to the network structure. The network structure has the following components and screens can only be added at Branch Level

Example of a simple network

media_1318582352416.png

As you can see from the entry relationship this simple network consists of one bouquet with three screens attached to it.

Creating a network

media_1318582905999.png

Click on new network

Add meta data

media_1318583328805.png
  1. Give the network a name
  2. Select the country it will operate in – (This is a very simple meta data structure and this is configured to suit the customer requirements when creating the network object.
  3. Time constraints do not function on a network level – do not add information
  4. Add permissions
  5. Add Rights – (contracts)
  6. Click save

The network will open, allowing you to begin building your network.

media_1318583427239.png

Click on the Entry Icon, you will be given options to append bouquets, rule sets and province.

Note: these options are standard and can be modified to suit customers by a nfinityX consultant.

We will begin by adding bouquets to the retail network. In this example we will use a bouquet we have create earlier, there are 5 screens in the bouquet. (You may add unlimited screens)
Note: You may use the append bouquet button and create a new one from this interface.

You would have created the bouquet before attaching it to the network.

Search for the bouquet you wish to attach to the Network in this case we will search for – Retail Network_Gondola ends. – Drag the bouquet onto your clipboard.

Remember to use your clipboard!

media_1322741216186.png

The retail bouquet can be seen in the clipboard.
You can only add a “Bouquet” to your network using the “Drag and Drop function”

Click and Drag onto the Network panel

Bouquet is now attached to the Network

media_1322741887639.png
  1. Close the Network tab
  2. Reload the network tab, double click on the network in your clip board.

Entry relationships – button appears in the left panel under the network

media_1322742157554.png

Click on “Entry relationship”

The Bouquet is now attached to the Retail network

media_1322743640467.png

Note: Although the screens are attached, you will still need to attach the following before they will present content.

  1. Screen layout
  2. Content lists to screen layout

We will now build the network infrastructure which will include the following:

  1. Province/State
  2. City/Town
  3. Suburb/Area
  4. Branch

Please note: above data set can be modified on your nfinityX to suit your company requirements.

Adding Province

media_1322744297054.png
  1. Click on “Entry”
  2. Mouse over “Append New”
  3. Click on “Append Province”
media_1322744556301.png
  1. Add province Name
  2. Select province from drop down – If the province is not visible use the a “pencil” to add a new field. 4
  3. Click “Save”

media_1322746728595.png

The province appears in the Network structure. Continue to use the method above to add all the Provinces/States

Adding additional fields

media_1322747142280.png
  1. Click the Add button
  2. Type in the field Name
  3. Save

The new field will be visible in the “Drop Down”

All the States/Provinces have now been added.

media_1322748659344.png
Use same steps in “Adding Province” to build the rest of the Network Structure, which is:
Region
City / Town
Surburb / Area
Branch

Creating a screen layout

Creating a layout

media_1316779560449.png

Click on new Screen Layout

media_1316779780403.png
  1. Give the screen layout a name
  2. Select the aspect ratio of the screen
  3. Add Description

Saving

media_1316780016597.png

You can simple save at this point without adding any further information to the screen.

media_1316780373136.png

Click Save

The new screen will be saved and also be added to your clipboard
The screen will then open and you can begin adding layers

Adding Layers to your screen

media_1316780768254.png

There are two places you can add layers on the top bar or right click on the screen.
Click new layer

Modifying your new layer

media_1316781014465.png
  1. Name your layer (Eg Video Layer)
  2. Move and scale on the screen, as you can see it has given you a 16/9 layout because that is what you assigned to it when you created the screen. In this example we will create a 4/3 video layer and add a ticker and a side panel for graphics and information panels like RSS feeds and weather widgets and the like.

Layer Controls

The controls have a minimum value of 0 and a maximum of 100

X value moves the layer left and right (horizontal)
y value moves layer up and down (Vertical)

Width – Size of the layer
Height – Height of layer

Colour – Simply select the colour

Video Layer created

media_1316784365492.png

Add the side panel and the ticker layer using the tools described above

Only once we have created the screen layout will we be able to add content lists to the screen

Completed Layout

media_1316785550991.png

The nfinityX automatically saves your work – You are now ready to add content to the screen layout.

You will notice that the screen layout is available in your active Clipboard

You would need to create a content list for all three areas of the screen.

Creating a New Bouquet

Open Screen works

media_1318574776244.png

Click on the New screen Bouquet Icon

media_1318578780521.png
  1. Give the Bouquet a name
  2. GIve the Bouquet a number, be sure not to duplicate the number.

Add any further Meta data

media_1318578906062.png
  1. Add time constrain – NOT compulsory.
  2. Note:You will see that the lesson deals with a video clip which is an object in the nfinityX – Adding date time constraints Objects (Media) are dealt with the same method.
  3. Add Permission – NOT compulsory – If you want to make the l layout available to other users on the platform do it now.
  4. Add rights – Uses contracts that are created in the nfinityX.

Date/Time, Permissions and Rights

Here we are going to go through adding Date/Time, Permissions and Rights to a object on nfinityX. These are universal thought the system.

Date / Time Constraints

media_1320228393967.png

The Date/TimeConstraints is to enter a date/time constraint on the content.
This will let you specify a date range for the content to be used in a content list on a screen.
Once the list is outside the date range the content will be expired / not active .

  1. Select the New button
  2. Then double click under the column you would like to fill in, once you have done that you will see a area where you can enter the required info.
  3. For the Start and End Date there will be a button on the right of the input box that will open a calendar and you can select the date from there.

Permissions

media_1320228715806.png

The Permissions tab is to give permissions to Users / Groups so that they can Read, Edit, Publish or Own the content.

  1. Select the New button
  2. Double click under the column you would like to fill in, Once you have done that you will see a area where you can enter the required info.
  3. On the Policy Name and Group input box`s your will see a button on the right which will open a drop down of the current policy names and groups.
  4. For the Start and End Date the button on the right of the input box will open a calendar and you can select the date from there.

Rights

media_1320230302049.png

The Rights tab lets you attach contracts to a piece of content. The content will get the constraints from the contract that is attached.

To add a contact to the content:

  1. Select the contract you want to add
  2. Click the > button

Once you have completed entering all your information and adding permissions / Date Time Constraints / Rights you can click save.
